Arizona State to Part Ways With RB Elite in 2025 NFL Draft

When the Cincinnati Bengals decided to part ways with Joe Mixon last year, it raised some eyebrows within NFL circles. Mixon had been a highly productive running back for the team over the course of seven seasons.

He left the Bengals as one of the franchise’s top running backs, with the team opting to focus on younger and more affordable options in Zack Moss and the versatile second-year player, Chase Brown. While Moss finished the season on injured reserve, Brown emerged as one of the most exciting backs in the league, racking up 1,350 yards from scrimmage and 11 total touchdowns.

The move also worked out well for Mixon and the Texans, as the veteran running back posted eight 100-yard rushing games and earned his second Pro Bowl selection. However, Moss’s injury and Mixon’s departure have created a significant need for another productive back to pair with Brown in 2025.

Cincinnati will likely turn to the draft to fill this gap, and few players in the class have been as impressive as Arizona State’s Cam Skattebo. A dynamic leader for the Sun Devils, Skattebo played a pivotal role in the team’s Cinderella run, showcasing his all-around ability.

Skattebo’s film is undeniable, but NFL teams will be closely monitoring how he performs in testing this spring to match his metrics with his production. A team with a creative offensive system should be able to unlock Skattebo’s potential, even if he ends up in a rotational role.
