The Gophers have been active on the 2026 recruiting trail, but until Wednesday, they hadn’t lined up an official visit with a running back. That all changed when Delvecchio “Deuce” Alston II from Trussville, Alabama, revealed he will be visiting Minnesota for their ‘Summer Splash’ event from May 30 to June 1 later this year.
At 6-foot and 200 pounds, Alston is an underrated prospect. Despite being unranked on most recruiting platforms, he has received notable offers from USF, Western Kentucky, and Troy. During his junior year at Hewitt-Trussville High School, he rushed for 670 yards and eight touchdowns on 97 carries.
Minnesota extended a scholarship offer to Alston on February 19. He is the first running back in the 2026 class to set an official visit and the 22nd recruit overall.
