On Friday, Michigan State’s Jase Richardson got a major boost toward his NBA dreams, earning a spot among the 75 players invited to the 2025 NBA Draft Combine in Chicago, set for May 11-18. The Windy City will also host the G League Elite Camp from May 9-11, where top performers can earn a chance to join the full combine. Per the CBA, all combine invitees must attend and participate.
After a stellar freshman season at Michigan State, Richardson declared for the draft. Starting as a dynamic bench guard, he evolved into the Spartans’ top offensive force, earning third-team All-Big Ten honors. He averaged 12.1 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.9 assists, helping MSU secure their first Big Ten title since 2020.
MSU coach Tom Izzo raved about Richardson’s growth, saying, “Coaching him was a blast. Watching him develop and perform was awesome.” Izzo, who encouraged Richardson to enter the draft, added, “I told him a month before the season ended to put his name in. From what I heard from my NBA contacts, I wasn’t shocked by the buzz around his draft stock. He’s ready.”
Izzo also celebrated the family legacy, noting, “I coached his father, Jason, a national champion, and now Jase, a Big Ten champ. Both chasing their NBA dreams—it’s all good.”
The son of MSU legend and NBA veteran Jason Richardson, Jase aims to be the Spartans’ first draft pick since Max Christie went to the Lakers in 2022 as a one-and-done talent.
