The College Football Playoff selection committee unveiled its revamped lineup on Monday, welcoming Nebraska AD Troy Dannen and veteran administrator Jeff Long to the crew. Dannen steps in for Damon Evans, now at SMU, while Long, back for a one-year stint, fills the spot left by Steve Weiberg, who stepped down for personal reasons.
Dannen, in his second year leading Nebraska, brings experience from NCAA committees, including the Football Oversight and Competition Committees. Before Nebraska, he served as AD at Washington. Long, a familiar face, returns after serving on the committee from 2014-18, including two years as its first chair. With 40 years in college athletics, Long held AD roles at Eastern Kentucky, Pitt, Arkansas, and Kansas.
Joining them are recently announced members, including former Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio, Middle Tennessee AD Chris Massaro, former Ole Miss star Wesley Walls, and ex-ESPN reporter Ivan Masiel. Baylor AD Mack Rhoades takes the helm as chair, succeeding Michigan’s Warde Manuel.
Returning veterans include former Oregon State coach Mike Riley, Virginia AD Carla Williams, former Nevada coach Chris Ault, Arkansas AD Hunter Yurachek, ex-Arizona State standout Randall McDaniel, and Miami (Ohio) AD David Sayler. Outgoing members, including former Wake Forest coach Jim Grobe, Nebraska legend Will Shields, sportswriter Kelly Whiteside, and Navy AD Chet Gladchuk, wrap up their terms as the new group gears up for the 12-team playoff this fall.
