Akim Lanieux, a 6-foot-6, 205-pound wide receiver from Plaquemine, Louisiana, committed to Arizona State on Tuesday after a spring stint at Northern Illinois. Last season, as a sophomore at Dodge City Community College, he recorded 20 catches for 378 yards and two touchdowns. Lanieux, unranked by 247Sports, redshirted in 2022 and had four receptions for 50 yards in 2023 before boosting his production significantly.
Lanieux praised ASU’s environment, coaching, and resources, telling Sun Devil Source, “The standard is set there, and I want to contribute to a winning program.” A recent court ruling may allow him extra eligibility beyond his reported two years, as seen with ASU’s Elijah O’Neal.
Lanieux joins a revamped ASU receiver group, including transfers Jalen Moss, Jaren Hamilton, and Noble Johnson, as the Sun Devils aim to defend their Big 12 title.
After visiting Tempe, Lanieux felt an immediate connection, saying, “The atmosphere is amazing. It felt like home right away, and I saw a life-changing opportunity.”
