Minnesota Wild Inks Star Winger in Major Deal to Transform Team’s Top-Six Lineup

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Minnesota Wild President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Bill Guerin announced today that the NHL team has signed forward Danila Yurov (dah-nee-lah YURR-ahv) to a three-year entry-level contract, which will begin with the 2025-26 season.

Danila Yurov, 21 (born Dec. 22, 2003), tallied 25 points (13 goals, 12 assists), 10 penalty minutes, three game-winning goals, 135 shots, and a plus-15 rating in 46 games this season with Metallurg Magnitogorsk of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). He ranked second on the team in plus-minus and tied for fourth in goals. The 6-foot-1, 176-pound forward from Chelyabinsk, Russia, had a breakout 2023-24 campaign, registering 49 points (21 goals, 28 assists), 35 penalty minutes, six power-play goals, seven game-winners, 160 shots, and a plus-22 rating across 62 games. Those numbers marked career highs across the board in the KHL and set records for the highest point total ever by a player age 20 or younger in the league, with his goal total ranking third all-time in that age group.

Yurov added nine points (six goals, three assists), 12 PIM, 66 shots, and a plus-9 rating in 23 playoff games, helping lead Metallurg to a Gagarin Cup title. Over his five-season KHL career (2020-2025), Yurov accumulated 88 points (41 goals, 47 assists), 55 PIM, 10 game-winners, six power-play goals, 373 shots, and a plus-41 rating in 209 regular-season games. He also appeared in 61 postseason games, recording 11 points (eight goals, three assists), 14 PIM, one power-play goal, 99 shots, and a plus-6 rating.

 

 

 

 

 

Internationally, Yurov won a silver medal with Russia at the 2021 IIHF Under-18 World Championship, where he collected 11 points (four goals, seven assists), two penalty minutes, and a plus-4 rating in seven games, tying for second in assists and fifth in total points. He also helped Russia capture gold at the 2020 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, finishing with eight points (two goals, six assists) in six games.

Originally drafted by the Minnesota Wild in the first round (24th overall) of the 2022 NHL Draft, Yurov will wear No. 22 for the team.
