Blazers Tipped to Land All-Star Talent in Blockbuster Jerami Grant Trade Proposal

The Portland Trail Blazers are heading into the offseason with a renewed sense of optimism for the first time in a while. Although they missed the playoffs, the team demonstrated meaningful progress, offering hope for a promising future.

Portland’s young core displayed maturity and resilience throughout the season, and now the front office faces a decision—either continue nurturing this group or pursue a major move to acquire an All-Star talent.

In a recent trade proposal from Bleacher Report’s Rob Perez, the Trail Blazers are linked to a deal that would bring in a star point guard to aid their rebuild. The hypothetical trade involves Portland acquiring Darius Garland from the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Here is how the deal would look:

Trail Blazers receive: Darius Garland

Cavaliers receive: Jerami Grant, No. 11 pick in 2025 NBA Draft, and a 2027 top-five protected first-round draft pick

“Why would Darius Garland be a fit in Portland with Anfernee Simons and Scoot Henderson already there? The thinking is that Anfernee Simons may be on the move this offseason, opening the door for Garland to join forces with Henderson and form a new dynamic backcourt.”

Bringing in a player like Garland would inject excitement into the Trail Blazers’ roster and could significantly boost their competitiveness in the Western Conference. Garland had an impressive year with the Cavaliers, averaging 20.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, 6.7 assists, and 1.2 steals per game.

While parting with Jerami Grant and multiple first-round picks would be a steep price, Garland could prove to be the missing piece—a legitimate go-to scorer who still has room to grow alongside Portland’s young core.

What direction the Blazers ultimately choose remains uncertain, but this offseason could mark a turning point for the franchise.
