
GREENVILLE, N.C. – Nominations are still being accepted for the East Carolina University Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2025. The deadline to submit nominations is June 30, with the new class set to be officially announced in July.
Established to honor former student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and others who have made significant contributions to ECU Athletics, the Hall of Fame represents the highest level of recognition within the program.
The Class of 2025 will mark the 46th group inducted, joining the 187 individuals already enshrined. A complete list of past inductees can be found at https://ecupirates.com/honors/ecu-athletics-hall-of-fame.
All Hall of Fame members are commemorated with photos and career highlights on an interactive display located in the Walter and Marie Williams Athletic Hall of Fame Gallery at the Smith-Williams Center.

Time Since Participation: A nominee must not have represented ECU as a student-athlete for at least ten (10) years prior to induction, unless deceased. This period may be shortened to a minimum of five (5) years with unanimous approval by the selection committee (amended May 31, 1990).

Current Employment Status: Nominees cannot be full-time ECU faculty or staff members at the time of selection and induction if they are being recognized in the same capacity as their employment (amended May 31, 1990).

Connection to ECU: Nominees must have either:

Attended ECU for at least two academic years,

Held a significant staff role, or
-
Been a dedicated supporter of ECU athletics for at least five academic years.
They must also have been in good standing when their relationship with the university ended.

Athletic Impact: The nominee’s athletic achievements at ECU—or as an alumnus/alumna—must be well known within the university’s region, contributing positively to ECU’s reputation.

Character and Conduct: Nominees must have a strong reputation and character, and must not have brought discredit to the university.

Academic Standing: Candidates must have either graduated from ECU or left in good academic and disciplinary standing.

Non-Discrimination: All nominations are considered fairly, without discrimination based on race, color, creed, genetic information, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, political affiliation, or veteran status.

Nomination Duration: A nomination remains active for up to three consecutive voting years. If not selected during this period, it is removed from consideration but can be re-submitted for another three-year cycle. There is no limit to the number of times a person may be nominated.
