A U.S. Senator from Indiana is calling on Angel Reese to apologize following the WNBA’s announcement of the findings from its recent investigation involving the former LSU standout.
On Tuesday evening, the WNBA shared the outcome of its probe into claims that a fan had directed a racist remark at Reese during the May 17, 2025, game between the Chicago Sky and the Indiana Fever.
“We have investigated the report of racist fan behavior in the vicinity of the court during the May 17, 2025 Chicago Sky at Indiana Fever game,” the league said in its statement. “Based on information gathered to date, including from relevant fans, team and arena staff, as well as audio and video review of the game, we have not substantiated it.”
Following this announcement, Sen. Jim Banks, R-Ind., publicly responded by demanding that Reese issue an apology.
“Angel Reese owes Indiana fans an apology,” Banks wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
It remains unclear who initially reported the alleged incident to the league.
Last week, when news broke that the WNBA was investigating, both Reese and Fever star Caitlin Clark voiced support for the inquiry, emphasizing that there is “no place” for racism in the league.
On Wednesday morning, Angel Reese took to X to share the logo of her signature line with Reebok. The post came just hours after she had re-shared announcements celebrating her milestone achievement—becoming the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 500 points and 500 rebounds—despite the Chicago Sky’s loss to the Phoenix Mercury the night before.
