Minnesota Basketball to Land Final Piece to The Gophers Puzzle

North Carolina transfer forward Cade Tyson could be the final piece for the Minnesota Gophers’ 2025-26 roster, though his decision remains pending. After visiting Minnesota in early April, Tyson, a 6-foot-7 sharpshooter, has yet to commit, with no set timeline for his choice. Despite interest from programs like Kentucky, Purdue, and Iowa, many have filled their rosters, while Minnesota still has three open spots.

Tyson’s standout 2023-24 season at Belmont saw him average 16.2 points and 5.9 rebounds, shooting 46.5% from three. His production dipped at UNC, averaging just 2.6 points in limited minutes, suggesting a change of scenery could help him regain confidence.

He could serve as a sixth man or vie for a starting role with the Gophers, leveraging his elite three-point shooting. Recent posts on X indicate optimism about Tyson potentially joining Minnesota, with some citing recruiting insiders.

With Minnesota’s history of late portal additions, like Tyler Cochran last June, Tyson remains a strong fit to complete the Gophers’ roster puzzle.
