Frank Ragnow injury history: Complete timeline and recoveries

The Detroit Lions are currently missing a few key veterans at their offseason OTAs, including linebacker Alex Anzalone and All-Pro center Frank Ragnow.

Head coach Dan Campbell recently addressed the media, stating that both players have stayed in touch with the team, but declined to provide specifics about their absences.

However, new information has surfaced regarding Ragnow’s situation. According to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, Ragnow is dissatisfied with his current contract.

Ragnow signed a four-year, $54 million extension in 2021, which at the time made him the highest-paid center in the NFL. He is now entering the third year of that deal, set to earn $9.15 million this season.

Despite the original value of his contract, the market has shifted. Ragnow now ranks fourth in annual salary among centers and is earning $4.5 million less per year than current position leader Creed Humphrey.

Since signing the deal, Ragnow has performed at an elite level, earning All-Pro honors in both seasons. He has been instrumental in solidifying Detroit’s offensive line, considered one of the league’s best, and at just 29 years old, remains a vital piece of the team’s core.

Although he has two years remaining on his contract, it wouldn’t be surprising if the Lions explore ways to restructure or extend his deal to ensure long-term satisfaction and stability with one of their top performers.
