Shock Move: Patriots Cutting Four-Time Pro Bowl Star ‘On The Table’

The New England Patriots have been making headlines during the first week of OTAs, though not for reasons any team would hope for. A video of newly acquired wide receiver Stefon Diggs partying on a boat with several women has gone viral. While that alone might not be newsworthy, what caught attention was a moment where Diggs appeared to hand one of the women a bag containing a pink substance — which many online have speculated to be the drug tusi.

Although there’s no concrete evidence to confirm what the substance was, the optics have been unfavorable for Diggs. Head coach Mike Vrabel addressed the situation when questioned by reporters.

“We’re aware of it,” Vrabel stated. “Our focus is always on making good choices on and off the field. During our sessions today and even when we’re off-script, we’re emphasizing smart decisions. That message goes for all our players. Any private conversations I’ve had with Stefon will stay between him, myself, and the organization.”

At this point, it appears the team intends to handle the matter internally, and no immediate disciplinary action is expected. However, some believe the Patriots might consider parting ways with Diggs before further issues arise. Scott Zolak of NBC Sports Boston mentioned he’s heard that releasing Diggs is a serious option being discussed.

“I came in yesterday knowing that cutting Diggs is on the table,” Zolak said. “And it’s not just about the boat video — there are other things I’ve heard that raise concerns.”

Diggs was expected to serve as a reliable veteran target for rookie quarterback Drake Maye. If the Patriots decide to cut him before training camp, it would leave them without a clear No. 1 receiver once again.
