The Portland Trail Blazers have hired Quinton Crawford as an assistant coach under head coach Chauncey Billups, a league source confirmed to Blazer’s Edge. The terms of his contract have not been made public.

The news was first broken by NBA insider Chris Haynes.

Crawford recently led the Stockton Kings to a 2024–25 NBA G League championship in his debut season as head coach. His success in the G League adds to a résumé that includes five years of experience as an NBA assistant coach.

His previous NBA roles include assistant coaching stints with the Phoenix Suns (2023–24), Dallas Mavericks (2022–23), and Los Angeles Lakers (2019–22). Before his time with the Lakers, Crawford worked with the Charlotte Hornets as a head video coordinator and player development coach during the 2018–19 season. He also spent two years with the Orlando Magic, serving as a head video coordinator and player development contributor in 2017–18, after working as an assistant video coordinator the year prior. His NBA journey began in 2015–16 with the Sacramento Kings in a similar video coordination role.

As a player, Crawford competed at Middlesex Community College (2008–10) in Edison, New Jersey, before transferring to play for the Arizona Wildcats (2011–13). He began his coaching career as a graduate manager and video exchange coordinator at Pepperdine University from 2013 to 2015.

Crawford’s hiring came alongside news that the Blazers are also retaining assistant coaches Nate Bjorkgren and Ronnie Burrell, along with analytics coach Jacob Mooallem.

This reshaping of the coaching staff follows reports from April that Roy Rogers, Chris Fleming, and Ryan Gomes would not return for the upcoming season.
