On Friday, the Minnesota men’s hockey team secured an important addition to their 2025 recruiting class with the official signing of defenseman Finn McLaughlin from the Muskegon Lumberjacks.
During the past season, McLaughlin appeared in 16 games for Muskegon, tallying five points with one goal and four assists. He also played 43 games with the Fargo Force “A” team, where he notched 20 points, including five goals and 15 assists.
McLaughlin is one of four defensemen committed to Minnesota’s 2025 class, joining Jacob Rombach, Matthew Gruimes, and Mace’o Phillips.
Hockey runs in McLaughlin’s family—his father, Kyle McGlaughin, played for St. Cloud State from 1995 to 1999, and his brother, Will McLaughlin, is set to join the WHL’s Portland Winterhawks next season.
The Golden Gophers finished their most recent season with a 25-11-4 record, including a 15-6-3 mark in conference play.
