The class of 2027 is starting their junior year of high school, and Niko Medved along with the Gophers coaching staff are already focusing on two local guards.
Baboucarr Ann: Maple Grove, G/F
Ann received a scholarship offer from Ben Johnson and the former Minnesota staff in December. On Wednesday, he shared that Medved and the current staff confirmed the offer. He visited campus unofficially, as noted in a social media post.
At 6-foot-5, Ann averaged about 15 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block per game as a sophomore for the Crimson. Arizona State is the only other program he has publicly confirmed an offer from.
Ty Schlagel: Cretin-Derham Hall, G/F
Schlagel was offered a scholarship by the former Gophers staff in September, and the current staff continues to pursue him. He’s the only 2027 Minnesota recruit ranked by 247Sports, rated as a four-star and the No. 47 player nationally. Standing at 6-foot-5, he averaged 18.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2 assists per game as a sophomore. He also has offers from Wisconsin and Iowa. Gophers insider Ryan James reported Wednesday that Schlagel plans to make another unofficial campus visit soon.
