Nolen Anderson didn’t need much convincing — everything new Gophers head coach Niko Medved said hit the mark.
Now preparing for his senior year at Wayzata High School, Anderson recently gave his commitment to Medved and the Minnesota program.
Standing 6-foot-7, Anderson is a versatile wing who told 247Sports his commitment to Minnesota came down to one key factor: culture.
“The coaching staff has been incredible,” Anderson said. “They showed how much they wanted me by being at all of my live period games in July. I really mesh with their style of play, and I believe I can thrive in Coach Medved’s offensive system.”
Anderson is ranked as the No. 3 overall prospect in Minnesota and the No. 56 small forward nationally. After spending last season at Eden Prairie, he showcased his skills this summer with D1 Minnesota on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit.
In addition to the Gophers, Anderson drew serious interest from Virginia Tech, Northern Iowa, and Drake—where Medved previously coached.
He’s coming off an impressive junior year, averaging 17.5 points per game alongside Christian Wiggins. In the Class 4A state title game, Anderson delivered a standout performance with 24 points, 10 rebounds, and four made three-pointers in a win over Cretin-Derham Hall.
Wiggins, who committed to Iowa State, teamed up with Anderson on both Eden Prairie and D1 Minnesota, which also featured Iowa standout and Creighton pledge Jaidyn Coon.
