Oregon State And Big 12 Call Off Epic Anticipated All-Star Team Clash

Oregon State is reshaping its future football schedule.

According to FBSchedules.com, which obtained the information via an Oregon public records request, Oregon State and BYU have agreed to cancel their non-conference game slated for the 2028 season. The Beavers’ 2027 trip to Provo remains unchanged.

The 2028 game was originally set for September 9 in Corvallis. School officials cite two main reasons for adjusting the schedule: the Pac-12 will adopt a restructured format with at least seven conference games starting in 2026, and the potential revival of the rivalry game formerly known as the Civil War.

Last week, FBSchedules.com also reported that Oregon and new Pac-12 member Utah State agreed to cancel non-conference matchups in 2027 and 2028. While the dates don’t perfectly align—the Beavers-Cougars game would have been a week before the Ducks-Aggies clash—it appears both Oregon programs may be clearing space to restore their historic rivalry.

If no changes are made, this year’s September 20 contest—the 129th meeting between Oregon State and Oregon—will be the last scheduled rivalry game for the foreseeable future.
