The Oregon Ducks scored big by securing five-star edge rusher Anthony Jones for their 2026 recruiting class. But with Jones still taking visits, the Ducks must stay relentless to keep their star commit locked in.
Anthony Jones On Flip Watch?
Oregon’s five-star edge rusher commit, Anthony Jones, is at risk of flipping, according to Chad Simmons of Rivals. Despite pledging to the Ducks in late July, Jones has already visited another program and may take more trips. Simmons noted, “Oregon has Anthony Jones committed, but he remains on flip watch.
In-state powers Alabama and Auburn are pushing hard, and Miami hosted him Sunday for their game against Notre Dame. As a lifelong Alabama fan from the heart of the Yellowhammer State, Dan Lanning and his staff must stay aggressive to secure his commitment this fall.” Ranked as the No. 4 edge rusher and No. 18 overall player in the 2026 class per 247Sports‘ Composite rankings, Jones is the top edge rusher in Oregon’s 2026 recruiting class. He chose the Ducks over Alabama and Texas A&M on July 31.
Who Could Flip Jones?
If Alabama can lure Anthony Jones for a campus visit, it could significantly boost their chances of flipping the in-state five-star edge rusher. The Crimson Tide made a strong push for Jones before his July 31 commitment to Oregon, hosting him for his final official visit. Meanwhile, Jones recently visited Miami during their season-opening victory over Notre Dame.
Cross-Country Travelers
Oregon successfully secured five-star defensive back Na’eem Offord, the No. 1 player in Alabama for the 2025 recruiting cycle per 247Sports, despite heavy interest from SEC programs. With Anthony Jones, the No. 1 player in Alabama for the 2026 cycle, now committed, the Ducks face the challenge of holding onto the state’s top talent for a second consecutive year.
Jones isn’t Oregon’s only East Coast commit. Five-star offensive tackle Immanuel Iheanacho, the No. 2 prospect from Maryland and No. 2 offensive tackle in the 2026 cycle, is also pledged to the Ducks. Additionally, five-star tight end Kendre Harrison from North Carolina, ranked as the No. 2 tight end and No. 3 player in his state, bolsters Oregon’s impressive 2026 recruiting class.
