Aliyah Boston and the Indiana Fever pulled off one of the most unexpected playoff runs in recent WNBA history. Despite losing several key players to season-ending injuries, including Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham, Boston led the way as Indiana upset the Atlanta Dream in the first round and pushed the Las Vegas Aces to overtime in Game 5 of the semifinals.
With the roster depleted, Boston stepped up in a major way, posting career-best averages of 15 points and 3.7 assists per game, along with 8.2 rebounds. Her defensive impact was just as impressive, as she added 1.2 steals and a team-leading 0.9 blocks per game while giving opposing stars, including league MVP A’ja Wilson, serious trouble in the paint.
In recognition of her defensive dominance, Boston was named to the WNBA All-Defensive Second Team for the first time in her career. She joins Veronica Burton (Golden State Valkyries), Rhyne Howard (Atlanta Dream), Ezi Magbegor (Seattle Storm), and Breanna Stewart (New York Liberty) on the second team.
The All-Defensive First Team features Wilson, Minnesota Lynx standouts Napheesa Collier and Alanna Smith, Seattle’s Gabby Williams, and Phoenix Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas.
“congrats to Aliyah Boston on being named to the 2025 WNBA All-Defensive Second Team 💪🔥,” the Fever wrote on X.
WNBA fans joined the Fever in congratulating Boston, leaving their thoughts on social media.
“Congratulations to AB! 🔥,” one fan said.
“She deserves First Team!! But Congratulations on your achievement!! 🎉🥂,” added another.
“Congratulations!!!!!! Of course you are!” wrote a third.
“Congrats. You are first team in our eyes,” posted a fourth.
“Well deserved. The organization should’ve campaigned for Lexie to make it. She was a Star on defense all season,” added a fifth.
The Fever could see major changes this offseason as Boston prepares for her fourth year in the WNBA. In fact, only she, Clark and rookie Makayla Timpson remain under contract heading into the 2026 season.
