PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Pirates top prospect Konnor Griffin made a major life choice during his first offseason as a professional.

Griffin revealed on Twitter that he proposed to his girlfriend, Dendy Hogan — and she said yes, officially becoming his fiancée.

The 19-year-old capped an incredible 2025 campaign by establishing himself as baseball’s top prospect. The Pirates selected Griffin ninth overall in the 2024 MLB Draft out of Jackson Prep in Mississippi, signing him for $6.2 million after he turned down LSU.

He opened 2025 in Single-A Bradenton, where he hit .338/.396/.536 with 49 runs, 70 hits, nine home runs, and 26 stolen bases in 207 at-bats. Among Florida State League leaders at the time of his promotion, he ranked first in hits, runs, batting average, and total bases.

Promoted to High-A Greensboro on June 10, Griffin continued to dominate, slashing .325/.432/.510 with seven homers, 36 RBIs, and 33 steals in 51 games. He earned South Atlantic League Player of the Week honors after homering in back-to-back games against Rome and later represented the Pirates in the Futures Game alongside outfielder Esmerlyn Valdez.

A late-season promotion to Double-A Altoona didn’t slow him down — he hit .337/.418/.542 with five homers and 22 RBIs in 21 games, helping Altoona clinch its first playoff berth since 2018.

Overall, Griffin finished the year batting .333/.415/.527 with 161 hits, 21 home runs, 94 RBIs, and 65 steals. He led all of minor league baseball with 117 runs and became the first teenage draftee ever to post a 20–40 season, and the first player since 1982 to record a 20–60 campaign. His performance earned him Baseball America’s Minor League Player of the Year and MLB Pipeline’s Hitting Prospect and Debut of the Year honors.
