BREAKING: Twins Part Ways with Veteran Starter, Ending Tenure in Minnesota

The Minnesota Twins have officially parted ways with veteran pitcher Anthony DeSclafani, marking the end of his brief tenure with the team. DeSclafani, who was acquired in a trade during the offseason, never made an appearance on the mound for the Twins due to injury setbacks and roster moves.

The right-hander, known for his steady contributions in the rotation during his time with the San Francisco Giants, had been expected to add depth to the Twins’ pitching staff. However, with the team’s current pitching depth and DeSclafani’s ongoing struggles to return to form, both sides have agreed to part ways as he becomes a free agent.

This move leaves the Twins with an open roster spot and clears the way for potential reinforcements as the offseason progresses. DeSclafani will now seek a new opportunity elsewhere in MLB.

RHP Anthony DeSclafani, RF Max Kepler, 1B Carlos Santana, and LHP Caleb Thielbar have all become free agents.

Kepler, the longest-tenured player in the organization, was the headline name among those with expiring contracts. He joined the Twins as part of the 2009 international free agent class and spent parts of 10 seasons with the Major League team.

The group also includes Santana, who led the team in home runs and was a finalist for the AL Gold Glove Award at first base; DeSclafani, who was acquired in an offseason trade but never pitched for the team; and Thielbar, who made his return to the organization in 2020 and remained a key reliever under manager Rocco Baldelli for the past five seasons.
