Notre Dame Football Roster Hit with Two Player Departures

Two players have chosen to leave the Notre Dame football program, but they won’t be entering the transfer portal. Instead, it appears their football careers are coming to an end.

According to On3, Kobi Onyiuke and Quentin Autry are no longer with the Notre Dame team, and neither is expected to enter the transfer portal.

With these departures, Notre Dame’s special teams have been affected, as Onyiuke had contributed significantly in that area, playing 55 special teams snaps for the Fighting Irish. Many of those snaps came as a protector on the punt team, and he also played a vital role on the kickoff team, appearing 42 times during the latter half of the season.

Autry had been with the Notre Dame football team for just one year, having joined as a grad transfer from Columbia in 2024. However, he missed the entire previous season due to a shoulder injury before returning for winter and spring workouts.

These departures mark the fourth for Notre Dame since the Blue-Gold Game just over a week ago. Former walk-ons Rino Monteforte, a long snapper, and kicker Zac Yoakam both left through the transfer portal, while scholarship players Kennedy Urlacher and quarterback Steve Angeli have also departed the program in the past week.

As a result, Notre Dame now has 115 players on its roster, a number that may need to be reduced to 105 due to the upcoming roster limits set to be implemented as part of the pending House vs. NCAA settlement.
