Packers Secure DT with $13.92 Million Contract Decision

Packers Make $13.92M Move on Devonte Wyatt Ahead of 2026 NFL Draft

While the Green Bay Packers aren’t ready to lock in a long-term deal with Devonte Wyatt, they’ve made a significant financial move to keep evaluating him. The team has exercised Wyatt’s fifth-year option, which will count $13.92 million against the salary cap in 2026. This gives general manager Brian Gutekunst another year to assess Wyatt’s potential before deciding on a contract extension.

Although the Packers could negotiate an extension at any point to reduce his future cap hit, they haven’t yet committed to doing so.

Wyatt, drafted 28th overall out of Georgia in 2022, stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 304 pounds. His 2024 season was hampered by injuries, including an ankle issue, a concussion, and a lower-leg injury during the playoff loss to the Eagles.

Now 27, Wyatt has totaled 74 tackles, 12 sacks, one forced fumble, and three recoveries over three seasons. With this latest move, the Packers are essentially betting big that Wyatt can step up in 2025 and prove he’s worthy of a long-term role as a key piece on their defensive line.
