East Carolina has strengthened its secondary by adding Old Dominion transfer cornerback Rasheed Reason, who reunites with his former ODU coach Tarron Williams, now ECU’s cornerbacks coach. Reason previously played at Diablo Valley College in California.

At 5’10” and 175 pounds, Reason brings experience to a revamped cornerback group that includes fellow transfers Jordy Lowery (Western Carolina), Jonathan Akins (Maryland), and Key Crowell (Indianapolis), plus freshman Derrion Horsley.

Over two seasons at ODU, Reason recorded 82 tackles, 11 pass breakups, and 2 interceptions. In 2024, he played a career-high 712 snaps, notching 46 tackles, 1 interception, 4 PBUs, and allowing 3 touchdowns, per Pro Football Focus (PFF).

A native of Vallejo, California, Reason entered the transfer portal on April 4 and committed to ECU after a weekend visit. He primarily plays outside corner, logging 945 of 1,082 career snaps at that position.

His PFF grades improved from 53.4 in 2023 to 56.5 in 2024, with his best game coming against ECU, earning a 68.4 overall grade. He also posted solid outings vs. Bowling Green, Texas State, Georgia Southern, and Appalachian State.

Reason joins an ECU cornerback unit undergoing major changes after losing key players like Shavon Revel (NFL) and Isaiah Brown-Murray (Virginia Tech). With Jules Montinar departing for Oklahoma State, new position coach Williams is overseeing a competitive spring, with Lowery, Akins, Crowell, and senior Tymir Brown competing for starting roles.
