Last month, the Florida State Seminoles saw two players selected in the 2025 NFL Draft, a respectable outcome after a challenging 2-10 season. Cornerback Azareye’h Thomas was picked in the third round by the New York Jets, and defensive tackle Joshua Farmer was chosen in the fourth round by the New England Patriots. Both have the potential to make immediate contributions to their teams.
CBS Sports’ Chris Trapasso recently ranked the Patriots’ draft class fourth overall, highlighting Farmer for his impressive size and athleticism. Trapasso noted, “Farmer’s exceptional length, quick burst, and speed to the backfield make him a valuable rotational player in his rookie year.”
At the NFL Combine, Farmer, standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 312 pounds with 35-inch arms, ran a 5.11 40-yard dash, posted a 29-inch vertical jump, a 9’4″ broad jump, and completed 26 bench-press reps. Over four years at Florida State, he played in 42 games, starting 25, and recorded 80 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, one forced fumble, and two pass deflections.
In 2023, he matched his career-best with five tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and a sack in FSU’s win at Clemson, contributing as a starter on the ACC Championship team.
Farmer’s first chance to shine for the Patriots comes this weekend at their rookie minicamp, running from May 9 to May 11.
