Coaching Chaos Sends Gophers’ Signee Sprinting to Big East

Highly regarded 2025 wing Jacob Ross had originally signed and committed to play for Ben Johnson and the Minnesota Gophers, but following a coaching change, he was released from his National Letter of Intent (NLI). He will now suit up for UConn under head coach Danny Hurley next season.

Standing at 6-foot-5, Jacob Ross wrapped up his high school career at SoCal Academy in Castaic, California. A three-star recruit, he is ranked No. 189 nationally in the latest 247Sports Composite.

Ross initially committed to Minnesota over notable offers from Kansas State, VCU, and Old Dominion. He’ll now join one of the nation’s top coaches at UConn, where he’ll also play alongside his older brother, Jayden Ross.
