Cedric Tomes, a 6-foot-1 point guard from East Ridge High School, ranked No. 5 in Minnesota’s 2026 class by 247Sports, committed to the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Rated a three-star recruit, he chose Minnesota over offers from Iowa State, Oklahoma, Drake, Bryant, and Northern Iowa. Tomes averaged 27.3 points per game as a junior, scoring 40+ points in three games.
He’s the second top-10 recruit from Minnesota’s 2026 class to commit, following No. 1-ranked Christian Wiggins of Wayzata, who pledged to Iowa State. The No. 2-4 players—Dothan Ijadimbola (Totino-Grace), Ryan Kreager (Faribault), and Jayden Moore (Hopkins)—have all received offers from the Gophers.
