Skip Flipped, Ranting For 10 Wild Minutes After Wolves-Thunder Game 1

Skip Bayless is known for sparking controversy, and following the Oklahoma City Thunder’s dominant Game 1 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference Finals, he unleashed a 10-minute tirade on X that was, frankly, unhinged.

Bayless claimed the game shifted in the second half when the Thunder, down by four at halftime, saw Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (SGA) unleash an MVP-caliber performance, while Anthony Edwards—whom Bayless dubbed “Can’t Man”—floundered in the clutch, particularly in fourth quarters and playoff games.

Did Bayless conveniently forget Edwards’ explosive second-half performances against the Lakers and Warriors in the first two rounds, where he powered Minnesota to eight wins in their first 10 postseason games? Or how about the 2024 playoffs, when Edwards led a stunning comeback from a 3-2 series deficit and a 20-point hole in Game 7 to eliminate Denver on their home court in the conference semifinals?

Bayless doubled down, calling Edwards “overhyped and overrated” and insisting SGA is “so much better, so much more impactful on both ends of the floor” that comparing them is laughable. This is a wildly exaggerated claim. Edwards is widely regarded as one of the NBA’s premier two-way players, and while SGA is exceptional, suggesting Edwards is vastly inferior on both offense and defense is ludicrous.

Things took an odd turn when Bayless gushed over SGA’s shooting: “SGA has the sweetest midrange jumper I’ve ever seen. It’s as sweet and pure as honey, smooth as honey. It just floats in, so softly, so deadly—like deadly honey.” The poetic waxing was bizarre, to say the least.

He capped it off with a clever, if quirky, line: “Oklahoma City smokes you like pot—P-O-T, points off turnovers.” Credit where it’s due—that’s a sharp quip. But the rest of his rant? Utterly unhinged.
