Niko Medved Stuns with 4-Star Atlantic Coast Sniper Commitment

Cade Tyson has officially committed to the University of Minnesota, providing the Gophers with a potentially top-tier three-point shooting wing as they build their first roster under new head coach Niko Medved.

Standing at 6-foot-7, Tyson was one of the most sought-after players in last year’s transfer portal. He averaged 16.2 points and 5.9 rebounds per game while shooting an impressive 49.3% from the field and 46.5% from beyond the arc during the 2023–24 season at Belmont.

Though he had a standout 23-point game against La Salle, Tyson played a limited role at North Carolina last season, averaging just 2.6 points in 7.9 minutes per game. With the Gophers, he’s expected to play a much bigger role in Medved’s system, though it remains to be seen whether he’ll start or serve as a key scoring option off the bench.

Back in April, Tyson reportedly drew interest from several major programs, including Kentucky, Purdue, Iowa, Ohio State, and BYU.
