Top Michigan State Target Stuns Recruiters With ECU Commitment

Michigan State football is wrapping up a highly productive month of June by working to finalize its 2026 recruiting class. The Spartans have already secured a key commitment from their top wide receiver target, Zachary Washington, and are now eyeing a potential second addition at the position.

Three wideouts who recently visited East Lansing — Samson Gash, Tyren Wortham, and Rai’Shawn Elmore — were in the mix for that final spot. However, Elmore is no longer being pursued by MSU, as he has committed to East Carolina following an official visit over the weekend.

Despite Elmore’s decision, Michigan State remains focused on Gash and Wortham as it looks to complete its wide receiver group for the class.

Elmore, a 3-star prospect from Indian Trail, North Carolina, stands at 6-foot-2 and weighs 185 pounds. He plays for Porter Ridge High School.
