
Ex-Las Vegas Raiders Player Passes Away at 59, as reported by The Spun.
Rich Stephens, a former Raiders offensive lineman, died on Sunday at 59.
The Raiders announced Stephens’ death via social media on Monday.
“The Raiders Family is saddened by the loss of Rich Stephens, who spent two seasons with us,” the team stated. “… Raider Nation’s thoughts are with Rich’s family during this difficult time.”
Drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in 1989 at pick No. 250 from Tulsa, Stephens appeared in 16 games for the Los Angeles Raiders in 1990 and 13 for the Oakland Raiders in 1995, starting one game each year.
The 6-foot-7 guard also played for the Sacramento Surge, champions of the World League of American Football in 1992.
“Rich was deeply cherished within the Raiders Organization, his vibrant personality uplifting many,” his obituary noted.
Nolan Harrison, a former Raiders teammate and NFLPA player representative, grieved the loss of Rich Stephens by sharing a video of him singing and playing guitar.
“RIP to my teammate Rich Stephens,” Harrison posted. “He was an amazing teammate and a genuinely kind person, always offering warm words and heartfelt hugs. Gone far too soon.”
