Regardless of team loyalties or differences, we’re all human, facing life’s challenges together.
On Tuesday, Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin shared a heartfelt letter he received after his mother Robin’s passing last week.
The note, written by Rebels cornerback Braylen Williams, said, “Your mother will always be with you through your memories. Her gentle care will live on as a warm peace in your heart. May you always feel her love’s encouragement and cherish the joyful moments you shared.”
Williams, a three-star recruit from Tupelo, Mississippi, in the class of 2026, committed to Ole Miss in April.
In recent posts, Kiffin also reflected on his mother’s reunion with his father.

Lane Kiffin’s father, Monte, passed away in 2024. Monte had a distinguished career as a coach and coordinator in both the NFL and college football. After a brief playing career, he began coaching at Nebraska, where he won two national championships. In 2002, he earned a Super Bowl XXXVII ring as the defensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Recent posts from Lane Kiffin show him surrounded by his large family, along with tributes and photos honoring his mother, Robin. She passed away on June 17, 2025, at age 81, less than a year after Monte’s death on July 11, 2024. Married for 50 years, the couple had three children: Lane, Chris, and Heidi. No cause of death has been publicly shared.
