Next Level Bound: Gophers Trio Snapped Up in PWHL Draft

Three Gophers women’s hockey standouts were selected in Tuesday night’s PWHL Draft.
Forward Ella Huber led the way, going early in the second round to the Boston Fleet. Just two picks later, Natalie Mlynkova was taken by the Montreal Victoire, and Peyton Hemp followed in the fourth round to the Ottawa Charge.

Huber wrapped up the season ranked 12th nationally and second on the Gophers with 48 points (15 goals, 33 assists). Mlynkova posted 34 points (16 goals, 18 assists), while Hemp closely followed with 33 points (16 goals, 17 assists).

The trio becomes the latest in a growing line of Gophers heading to the pros, joining Tayler Heise (2023 No. 1 overall), Grace Zumwinkle (2023 third round), and Madeline Wethington (2024 seventh round) as recent draftees.

Minnesota-Duluth also made a strong showing with five players drafted: Olivia Mobley (Boston), Nina Jobst-Smith (Vancouver), Clara Van Wieren (Toronto), Hanna Baskin (Toronto), and Olivia Wallin (Seattle).
