Draft Night Mayhem: Jayhawks Rocked by Wild Twists, Steals, and Snubs on the Road from Allen Fieldhouse to the League

For the first time since 2021, and only the third time since 2010—not a single Kansas Jayhawk was selected in this year’s NBA Draft.

Still, the night wasn’t without movement for the program. Three former Jayhawks quickly secured new opportunities, signing undrafted free agent contracts shortly after the draft wrapped up.

Here’s a look at where each of them ended up.

Hunter Dickinson: New Orleans Pelicans

Hunter Dickinson, a two-time Consensus All-American, signed a two-way deal with the New Orleans Pelicans.

After participating in a pre-draft workout with the team, the 7-foot-2 big man was quickly picked up once the draft concluded.

As a rookie, Dickinson will split time between the NBA and G League, offering his dominant post presence and imposing size.

Dajuan Harris: Charlotte Hornets

Though a polarizing figure during his six seasons at Kansas, Dajuan Harris leaves as one of the most accomplished guards in program history.

A 2022 national champion and the second all-time leader in assists at KU, Harris will suit up for the Charlotte Hornets in Summer League play.

While he lacks elite athleticism or physical traits, his court vision and basketball IQ give him an under-the-radar chance to earn a pro roster spot.

Zeke Mayo: Washington Wizards

The 6-foot-4 sharpshooter signed a Summer League deal with the Washington Wizards after going undrafted.

Mayo showed glimpses of second-round talent during his time at Kansas and now has a shot to showcase his skills on a bigger stage.

Regarded as one of the top shooters in the 2025 class, he’ll be a player to watch in Las Vegas when NBA Summer League runs from July 10 to July 20.
