15-Year-Old Hockey Phenom Turns Heads During Visit With Gophers

Highly regarded goalie prospect Vilmer Salén Forsberg has reportedly made a visit to the University of Minnesota campus.

At just 15 years old, Forsberg is seen as one of the top goaltending talents eligible for the 2027 NHL Draft. Hailing from Södertälje, Sweden, he has represented Sweden’s U-16 national team, recording a .921 save percentage over four games.

The Swedish netminder was selected with the first pick of the seventh round in the USHL Draft by the Muskegon Lumberjacks. He also recently became the youngest player ever to compete in Minnesota’s Da Beauty League — a summer showcase featuring NHL and college stars in a 4-on-4 format, held annually at Bremer Arena in Edina since 2015.

In his league debut on Wednesday night, Forsberg impressed with 38 saves in a scoreless draw. He suits up for Team Tria, who are scheduled to play again next Wednesday at 5 p.m. CT.
