“I’m incredibly honored and thankful to announce my commitment to play Division I hockey and continue my education at the University of Minnesota,” Jarvis wrote on Instagram. “Huge thanks to my family, friends, teammates, coaches, advisors, and everyone who’s helped me get here. #gogophs〽️ #C4L”
Born in 2008, Luca Jarvis was a key player for Stillwater High School last season. The 6-foot-1 forward tallied 48 points in 30 games — scoring 24 goals and adding 24 assists — helping lead the team to the 2025 State Class AA title game.
Jarvis ended the season in the USHL, appearing in five games for the Youngstown Phantoms and recording two points. He’s expected to spend the 2025–26 season with Youngstown.
His commitment continues a busy stretch for the Gophers, who have now secured pledges from five Minnesota natives in the last two weeks: 2007-born goalie Carter Casey (Grand Rapids), 2009-born center Gunnar Conboy (Lakeville), 2008-born forward Wyatt Cullen (Moorhead), his brother, 2006-born center Brooks Cullen (Moorhead), and now Jarvis.
While Bob Motzko faced some criticism for his recent recruiting efforts, his latest string of in-state commitments sends a clear message: Minnesota is still capable of landing elite local talent that few programs in the country can match.
