The Mekhi Blackmon chapter in Minnesota has officially closed.
On Monday night, the Vikings swung their third trade in just five days, extending a rapid-fire series of roster shakeups.
General manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah dealt the third-year cornerback to the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for a sixth-round pick, sending Blackmon to join former teammate Camryn Bynum in Indy.
With that, Blackmon’s time in purple is over—another move in a week defined by 3 trades in 5 days.

Trade Details:
-
Monday night: Vikings sent cornerback Mekhi Blackmon to the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick.
-
The previous Wednesday: Minnesota traded defensive tackle Harrison Phillips to the New York Jets, along with a 2027 seventh-round pick, for two sixth-round picks.
-
Over the weekend: They also traded quarterback Sam Howell to the Philadelphia Eagles for a 2026 fifth-round and a 2027 seventh-round pick.

Strategic Observations:
-
GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah’s moves have opened up a “mini war chest” of late-round picks, potentially positioning the team for further trades—especially for wide receiver help, given injuries (like Jordan Addison’s suspension and Jalen Nailor’s hand injury).
-
The Vikings must trim their roster to 53 players by Tuesday at 3:00 PM CST
