Bears’ Season Already at Must-Win Point After Rivals’ Surge

The Bears spent the offseason focused on closing the gap with the Lions. Now, in Week 2, the spotlight is on Ben Johnson’s return to Detroit.

But an even bigger concern might be emerging in the NFC North: are the Packers back?

Johnson and the Bears can’t afford to stumble. No playoff team in franchise history has started 0-2, and dropping the first two inside the division would be a serious setback.

The Lions may be the reigning two-time champs, but Green Bay looks like just as big of a threat. After dismantling Detroit in Week 1, the Packers suffocated Washington on Thursday night. Jordan Love hasn’t thrown a pick in nine games, Josh Jacobs is pounding the ball, Tucker Craft is becoming a real factor, and Micah Parsons helped the defense rack up four sacks against Jayden Daniels.

That’s two statement wins over playoff teams to start the season. Meanwhile, the Bears coughed up an 11-point lead at home in a loss to the Vikings.

With Green Bay rolling, time is already running short for Johnson’s group.
