The Gophers offered a scholarship to 2026 tight end George Rohl during his gameday visit for Minnesota’s win over Rutgers. On Tuesday, he officially switched his verbal commitment from North Dakota to the Gophers.
“COMMITTED!!! Let’s Row!!” Rohl announced on X.
Standing 6-foot-6 and 230 pounds, Rohl had been pledged to North Dakota since March 29, with Northern Iowa as his only other scholarship offer. The Ellsworth, Wisconsin native is ranked the state’s top tight end by 247Sports.
He becomes the third tight end in Minnesota’s 2026 recruiting class, joining in-state No. 1 prospect Roman Voss and Missouri’s Gabe Weaver. The Gophers have built a strong reputation for producing NFL-caliber tight ends, including Brevyn Spann-Ford, Ko Kieft, and Nick Kallerup, giving Rohl a promising developmental path.
Despite recent decommitments from Utah wideout Kai Meza and Oklahoma offensive lineman Daniel McMorris, Minnesota holds 23 verbal commitments for 2026. With early National Signing Day approaching this winter, the class is currently ranked No. 30 nationally by 247Sports.
