PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Pirates ace Paul Skenes might not be known for his interior design skills, but he proved he knows how to pick the perfect housewarming gift for girlfriend Livvy Dunne.
Dunne shared a photo of Skenes holding a small statue of a meditating chick, the quirky piece of art he picked out for her new kitchen in Jupiter, Fla.

Skenes and Dunne ultimately settled on a different piece, a chick striking a dance pose which Dunne later shared in a follow-up post.
Paul Skenes and Livvy Dunne Have Made the Most of their Offseason
Since the Pirates’ season wrapped up on Sept. 27, Paul Skenes and Livvy Dunne have been making the most of their downtime, enjoying activities they rarely have the time or energy for during the grind of the season.
Skenes helped Dunne celebrate her 23rd birthday at her New York City apartment, where the two also took in the sights, including a visit to the Statue of Liberty.
Dunne recently bought a new home in Jupiter, Fla., and Skenes joined her for the move — helping her settle in and even putting his new hot dog roller to good use.
The couple also returned to their alma mater, LSU, to watch the No. 10-ranked Tigers defeat South Carolina 20-10 at Tiger Stadium on Oct. 11, where they met podcaster and comedian Theo Von.
Most recently, Skenes and Dunne enjoyed a getaway to Taormina, Italy — a scenic hilltop town along Sicily’s eastern coast.
The Origins of Paul Skenes and Livvy Dunne
Dunne and Skenes first met at LSU, where both began their rise to national fame and their relationship.
Skenes shined for the Tigers in 2023 after transferring from Air Force, leading LSU to a National Championship. He dominated with a 13-2 record and a 1.69 ERA over 19 starts, allowing just 23 earned runs in 122.2 innings while racking up 209 strikeouts against only 20 walks.
The Pirates selected Skenes with the first overall pick in the MLB Draft, signing him to a record $9.2 million bonus. He went on to win the 2024 NL Rookie of the Year Award in his first full season.
Dunne, meanwhile, became the most-followed NCAA athlete on social media, boasting 5.3 million Instagram followers and 8 million on TikTok. She completed her fifth and final season with LSU gymnastics this past spring, helping the team capture its first-ever National Title in the 2023–24 season. Dunne also posted a career-high 9.900 on floor twice and previously competed with the U.S. National Team in 2017. Following LSU’s championship run, she announced her retirement from competitive gymnastics.
Paul Skenes Completes Incredible 2025 Season for the Pirates
Skenes just wrapped up a dominant 2025 season with the Pirates — one that firmly established him as one of the best pitchers in all of baseball.
He finished with a 1.97 ERA, the lowest in the majors, while ranking tied for fourth in strikeouts (216), fourth in WHIP (0.95), sixth in opponent batting average (.199), and tenth in innings pitched (187.2). He also posted elite ratios — fifth in strikeout-to-walk rate (5.14), seventh in strikeouts per nine innings (10.36), and ninth in walks per nine (2.01).
Skenes became the first MLB pitcher to record a sub-2.00 ERA in a season since Justin Verlander did it with Houston in 2022, and the first National League pitcher to combine a sub-2.00 ERA with 200-plus strikeouts since Jacob deGrom in 2018.
He also etched his name into Pirates history, his 216 strikeouts are the most by a right-handed pitcher in the live-ball era (since 1920). Only Ed Morris, who struck out 326 batters in 1886 and 298 in 1885, has ever had more in a single season for Pittsburgh.
Now the frontrunner for the National League Cy Young Award, Skenes has the chance to become just the third Pirate ever to win it, joining Doug Drabek (1990) and Vern Law (1960).
