Liverpool is reportedly revisiting their interest in Borussia Dortmund forward Julian Brandt, who has been a target for Jurgen Klopp since 2017. Despite Klopp’s preference for Brandt over Mohamed Salah in the past, the German forward chose Dortmund over Liverpool in 2019. Now, The Mirror suggests that the 27-year-old is once again a priority for Liverpool.

Brandt, who has also caught the attention of Arsenal and Newcastle United, is considered a “long-term target” for Klopp. However, any potential transfer may face challenges, as Dortmund is expected to remain in the Champions League until 2024, making a January sale unlikely.

Klopp has been a fan of Brandt since his days at Bayer Leverkusen when the player was seen as one of the Bundesliga’s promising young talents. Although Brandt, now 27, may not have fully lived up to the early expectations, he has shown improvement in the last 18 months. With nine Bundesliga goals last season and four already this season, Brandt played a crucial role in Dortmund’s title pursuit in the previous campaign.

Brandt’s playing style, described as elegant and technical, has started to showcase the potential that Klopp recognized years ago. Despite comparisons to Arsenal’s Kai Havertz, Brandt’s recent performances have garnered praise, with Havertz acknowledging Brandt’s standout contributions to Dortmund. While Klopp’s admiration for Brandt persists, the likelihood of a transfer remains uncertain, much like the speculated move for Erling Haaland.
