Kansas City Chiefs standout Patrick Mahomes acknowledged that playing on Christmas Day would bring mixed emotions due to the disappointment of being away from his kids. The Chiefs are set to play the Las Vegas Raiders in the second of three NFL games scheduled for December 25, aiming to continue their winning streak after defeating the New England Patriots on Sunday.

In line with NFL tradition, the Kansas City players, including Mahomes, will stay at a team hotel the night before the game, even when playing at home. Despite the excitement of playing at Arrowhead Stadium on the holiday and being part of the standalone game, Mahomes admitted that he will miss spending Christmas Eve and morning with his young children, Sterling (2) and Bronze (1).

Speaking to Pro Football Talk, Mahomes expressed his enthusiasm for the unique opportunity of playing in front of a festive Chiefs Kingdom. However, he also confessed his disappointment at missing the moments of Christmas Eve and morning with his kids, emphasizing that he will make up for it by spending the evening with them and opening presents.

Mahomes, though unable to witness Santa’s arrival at home this year, did manage to spend Thanksgiving at his Kansas City residence. His wife, Brittany, often attends his games, occasionally bringing their children along. Notably, Brittany has been seen alongside Taylor Swift at Chiefs games, amid the pop star’s growing connection with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

The couple, Taylor and Travis, has been closely bonded since taking their relationship public, even introducing a personal handshake to celebrate Chiefs touchdowns in October. Despite their public appearances, Brittany Mahomes has faced increased negativity on social media recently, revealing on her Instagram story that there has been a notable rise in “rude a** people” in recent weeks.
