Oklahoma gained another commitment on Sunday afternoon from a player who participated in Saturday’s Red/White Game, marking their second commitment of the day. However, this commitment was from a high school prospect, marking OU’s first commitment for the Class of 2027. Zane Rowe, a 6-foot-5, 225-pound defensive end from Denton (TX) Guyer High School, announced to On3 recruiting insider Hayes Fawcett on Sunday night that he has committed to the Sooners.

Rowe was among over 100 prospects who attended the annual Spring Game on Saturday afternoon. Earlier on Sunday, OU secured a commitment from former SMU center Branson Hickman through the NCAA Transfer Portal. Rowe is teammates with the new Guyer quarterback, Kevin Sperry, who has been committed to OU for a long time. Sperry played last year at Carl Albert High School in Midwest City, helping the Titans win another state championship, but he transferred to Guyer earlier this spring.

OU currently has 13 commitments in the class of 2025 and one, running back Jonathan Hatton, in the class of 2026. Now, the Sooners are actively building their 2027 class, which includes high school freshmen.

With 22 offers on the table, Rowe ultimately chose OU over other notable schools such as Arkansas, Georgia, Ole Miss, Nebraska, Oregon, Texas, Texas A&M, among others.

Rowe also participated in the Brent Venables Elite Camp last summer.
