As reported by 90min, West Ham United has expressed a strong interest in acquiring Karim Konate. The Hammers are actively seeking to bolster their forward line and have identified several potential candidates, with the 19-year-old standout from Red Bull Salzburg being among them.
Konate’s football journey began at ASEC Mimosas before he made the move to the Austrian club in the summer of 2022. Initially, he was loaned out to FC Liefering for six months after his arrival. However, upon his return to Red Bull Salzburg, Konate’s progress has been nothing short of remarkable.
The young sensation has already participated in 24 matches for the Austrian side, contributing to an impressive 17 goals. In the current season, he has been a key player in 15 matches, having a hand in 13 goals. This outstanding performance has not gone unnoticed, with numerous top-tier clubs showing interest in the Ivory Coast international. West Ham United is one such club that is eager to have him on their roster.
The Hammers are in the market for additional firepower in their attack, particularly with Michail Antonio and Danny Ings not performing at their best recently, possibly leading to their departure from the club next summer. This has prompted their Technical Director, Tim Steidten, to prioritize the addition of a young forward to address both short-term and long-term needs. The 19-year-old Konate possesses all the qualities required to reach great heights in his career, making him an appealing prospect for West Ham United.
It’s worth noting that Konate is under contract with Red Bull Salzburg until the summer of 2028, leaving nearly five years on his deal. Securing the services of this teenage sensation won’t be a straightforward task; nevertheless, the Hammers are prepared to take their chances in making the signing happen.
