‘Had a great game’: the 22-year-old Newcastle player was unreal on Saturday

Saturday proved to be a stellar day for Newcastle United, where everything fell into place for the team. Sean Longstaff, among several other Toon players, delivered an impressive performance.

The 25-year-old secured the Magpies’ third goal of the match, seizing an opportunity created by Marc Guehi’s mistake. This goal marked his third of the season, matching his total from the previous year. It was a straightforward goal for Sean Longstaff, who had ample time to find the back of the net.

Beyond his goal, Longstaff showcased another strong performance as a Newcastle midfielder, making him one of the players Gareth Southgate should be closely observing. Anthony Gordon, who also scored on that Saturday, added to the team’s success. He netted the second goal of the game, making amends for an earlier missed opportunity.

The 22-year-old Gordon is currently playing the best football of his career, and Longstaff openly praised his performance against Crystal Palace.

In the aftermath of the 4-0 victory over Palace, Longstaff had a conversation with the Chronicle and took a moment to acknowledge some of his teammates who had impressed him during the triumph.

“It was an exceptional day all around,” he remarked. “We welcomed Callum Wilson back, Jacob Murphy displayed excellence, and Anthony Gordon had a fantastic game as well.”
