This week holds special significance for Florida State fans, as it marks a highly anticipated matchup against the Miami Hurricanes, a fixture that has been eagerly awaited since the schedule was unveiled in January. The rivalry between the Seminoles and Hurricanes is renowned for its intensity, ranking among the fiercest in the nation.

Throughout the current millennium, it has proven challenging for either team to establish clear dominance, with the overall record standing at 12-12 since 2000. Notable streaks include Miami’s six consecutive victories from 2000 to 2004 and Florida State’s seven straight wins from 2010 to 2016.

Recent history favors FSU, having secured victories in the last two encounters. In 2021, a memorable comeback featured a crucial catch from Ja’Khi Douglas, a successful 4th & 14 conversion by Andrew Parchment, and a pivotal rushing touchdown, along with a two-point conversion orchestrated by quarterback Jordan Travis. The previous season saw a decisive 45-3 triumph for FSU under the guidance of head coach Mike Norvell in Miami Gardens.

Will this be different in 2023? It remains to be seen, as both sides begin this competition with questions about who will be available. While Miami quarterback Tyler Van Dyke has been playing despite injuries, FSU is hoping Johnny Wilson and Keon Coleman will be able to return.

As the Seminoles prepare to face the Hurricanes, our staff offers their thoughts and predictions.
