Wests Tigers coach Benji Marshall is optimistic about creating a competitive halves pairing for the 2024 season, although the specific combination is yet to be determined. While Jarome Luai is a sought-after off-contract five-eighth, Marshall emphasizes his focus on promising recruits currently making an impact in pre-season training. Notable additions include Aidan Sezer, Jayden Sullivan, Latu Fainu, and Lachlan Galvin.

Marshall acknowledges the appeal of marquee players entering the market but underscores the priority given to the four signed halves for the upcoming season. He praises the potential of newcomers like Sullivan, Fainu, and Galvin, highlighting their ambition to make a significant impact.

Aidan Sezer, who last played in the NRL in 2019, is set to return and fill the void left by Luke Brooks. Marshall expresses confidence in Sezer’s experience and professionalism, seeing him as a valuable mentor for the emerging Wests Tigers halves.

Despite Adam Doueihi’s potential return from an ACL injury, Marshall asserts an open competition for the No. 6 and No. 7 jerseys, emphasizing that preseason performance will determine the final lineup. Marshall communicates a merit-based approach, stating that no player is guaranteed a spot solely based on age or experience; instead, those who earn it through hard work in training are likely to secure playing opportunities.
