NFL Insider Proposes Mike Tomlin Trade

PITTSBURGH — The calls for the Pittsburgh Steelers to move on from head coach Mike Tomlin have gotten progressively louder as his team dropped two games in a row to teams who entered with just two wins and those calls have reached the national level.

Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer, a close friend of Tomlin’s, told fellow Fox Sports NFL personality Dave Helman that the Steelers should consider trading the Super Bowl-winning head coach to the Washington Commanders. “I’m telling you, if Mike Tomlin was available, teams would be lining up,” Glazer said.

“Even if he’s not available yet, teams should be calling trying to trade for Mike Tomlin. Hey Washington, he’s from Virginia, perfect. I’m at least giving it a shot. I’m trying for it. … You got to swing away for a guy like that if he’s on the hot seat.” Commanders head coach Ron Rivera is standing on shaky ground with his team at the present moment. Washington currently sits at 4-9 and have yet to post a winning season with Rivera as head coach, although they did win the NFC East in 2020 with a 7-9 record.

New Commanders owner Josh Harris could look to not just move on from Rivera in the offseason, but make a big splash by bringing Tomlin to the nation’s capital.
