Hammers set to lose £11M on disgruntled player

Multiple news reports suggest that West Ham winger Maxwel Cornet could depart the club in January for as little as £6 million. This would signify a loss of £11 million over an 18-month period, which, whilst not a major setback, adds to West Ham’s questionable trading history.

The club incurred substantial losses, exceeding £30 million on the unsuccessful transfer of Felipe Anderson, with both Sebastien Haller and Nikola Vlasic resulting in £20 million losses each.

The fortunate recipients of West Ham’s Black Friday player offer for Cornet could be Turkish team Fenerbahçe. They value the Ivorian at a third of his market value last year, and this valuation seems justified as he has seen minimal playing time

Cornet’s lack of action for West Ham has led to his exclusion from his national team, a significant source of frustration for the player, especially considering Ivory Coast is hosting the African Cup of Nations in January.
