Cardiff City transfer news as Bulut desperate to add to attack and Perry Ng undergoes eye test

Bulut: We need more in attack in January

Erol Bulut is eager to reinforce his team’s attacking prowess in January following a goal drought in recent months. While the Bluebirds exhibit a threat during set pieces, they are currently struggling to generate meaningful opportunities and convert them into goals. Expressing a desire to enhance offensive capabilities, Bulut, the Bluebirds’ manager, has already expressed admiration for Bournemouth striker Kieffer Moore and aims to prioritize addressing the scoring issues once the transfer window opens next month.

In response to inquiries about the prospect of bolstering the team’s firepower in January, Bulut stated, “I am hopeful. Offensive players are essential for creating chances, which is the most challenging aspect in football. The difference lies in creating and finalizing chances, and for that, quality and skilled players are necessary. While we have such players, our current scoring record is not satisfactory. We need to persistently work on improving the communication and technical connections among the players, as they are not quite up to par right now.”

When questioned about the progress of planning for the upcoming transfer window, Bulut acknowledged ongoing preparations but emphasized the distinction between planning and execution. He stressed the importance of hard work and determination within the club to fulfill the planned objectives, aiming for a position between 10th and 12th in the standings, and expressed a commitment to working diligently even if transfers cannot be successfully completed.

Perry a doubt for Hull after eye test

Perry Ng’s availability for Cardiff City’s upcoming match in Humberside is uncertain following an eye examination. The standout right-back, who has been a key player for City this season, was substituted after just 14 minutes last night due to blurred vision.

Although he participated in some training today, the decision regarding his participation in the weekend game against Hull City hinges on the results of the eye test conducted today. Cardiff City manager Bulut mentioned that Ng’s vision was unclear, prompting the substitution, and emphasized the impact his presence has on the team’s attacking organization compared to the more defensive style with Mahlon. The final decision awaits the outcome of Ng’s eye test.

Youngster opens up on ‘frustrating’ period

Cameron Antwi expressed his frustration at being sidelined for months as he was gearing up for a potential loan move. Despite being a standout player for the under-21s last season and maintaining his form this season after recovering from a lengthy injury, Cardiff had hoped to loan him for first-team experience. Unfortunately, a serious injury at the end of the previous season dashed those hopes.

Antwi recounted the incident, stating, “I got hit in the head mid-air and dropped and collapsed on both of my knees. It was my left PCL and MCL, and then also my right MCL.” The news of the injury was shocking for him, especially as he was performing well and aiming to secure a loan for the current season.

Reflecting on the challenging period, Antwi said, “I didn’t know what to do with myself. It was a frustrating period, but I learned a lot about myself. I’ve had setbacks in life, but this one was the most challenging because I’d never been injured like that ever. It was a learning curve, as bad as it was, I learned a lot about myself off the pitch.”

He emphasized the welcoming atmosphere from the team and the positive influence of the manager and senior players.

Antwi shared, “Since I’ve been back, I’ve been with the first team, training with them here and there. It’s a step up; when I go up to the first team, I feel the intensity change. They take me in well, they’re all welcoming, and the manager is good with me as well, so I do enjoy it a lot.”

Speaking about his goals, Antwi expressed his desire to accumulate first-team minutes, whether with Cardiff City or out on loan. He highlighted the supportive environment within the team and his eagerness to continue his career with Cardiff City. In summary, Antwi looks forward to progressing and contributing to Cardiff City, expressing his enjoyment of the current experience with the team.
